Dimitris Iakovidis

Dr. Dimitris Iakovidis is a Professor of Signal Processing and Medical Decision Support Systems, and Director of the Biomedical Imaging laboratory at the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics, University of Thessaly, Lamia, Greece. The research interests of Prof. Iakovidis include signal and image processing, artificial intelligence, and decision support systems, with applications in biomedicine and other domains. In this context, he has co-authored over 200 scientific papers in international journals, conferences, and books, and he has participated in several funded European and National research projects. Recent relevant EU projects include INTELLI-INGEST, and SEARCH. He has contributed several pioneering methodologies for biomedical data analysis and clinical decision making. Professor Iakovidis is a Fellow of EAMBES, a Senior Member of IEEE, and member of IAPR and VPHI. He has served in Editorial positions of high-impact scientific journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, and currently he is Executive Editorial Board Member of the Measurement Science and Technology journal. Since 2014 he has been collaborating with the European Commission and other public authorities as an independent expert and quality controller, as well as with industrial bodies as a scientific consultant.
