Senior Researcher in Population Genetics and Data Analysis, Information Systems Laboratory, Institute of Computer Sciences-FORTH & Hemopoiesis Laboratory, School of Medicine, University of Crete, Greece

Dr. Helen Latsoudis, M.Sc., Ph.D., is a Senior Researcher in Population Genetics and Data Analyses at the Information Systems Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Sciences-FORTH and at the Hemopoiesis Laboratory of the Medical School, University of Crete. Her research focuses on translational medicine turning observations from the laboratory and clinic into interventions that improve precision medicine and advance public health initiatives. Basically, she is interested in molecular and population genetics, aiming to unravel the aetiopathogenic mechanisms of human diseases (e.g. neurological and hematological disorders) through laboratory and computational data analysis. Helen integrates her background in biomedical sciences and genetics or genomic analysis with the development and application of data analyses pipelines and digital tools for the detection and characterization of acquired and/or inherited genetic alterations. Her expertise in genetics & multi-omic data analyses, combined with the digitalization of health data, substantiates the role of Precision Medicine Networks in unraveling the specific molecular aetiopathogenic mechanisms of clinical manifestations and supporting clinicians in achieving safer and more effective diagnoses for common and rare human diseases.
