PART I | CAPACITY BUILDING | From Specifications to Skills: Co-Designing Training for an Interoperable European Health Data Space
As the European Health Data Space (EHDS) moves from policy and technical specifications to real-world implementation, a critical challenge emerges ensuring that the workforce has the right skills to operationalise interoperability at scale.
This joint XiA – EURIDICE workshop focuses on translating EHDS and HL7 interoperability specifications into concrete, role-specific competencies and training priorities. Bringing together standards experts, implementers, educators, and digital health leaders, this two-part workshop explores where specifications alone are insufficient without targeted skills development.
Through a structured, interactive, and hands-on co-design process, participants will identify key capability gaps, validate HL7 Standards as a dedicated competence family within the XiA framework, and collaboratively define prioritized learning outcomes and micro-content learning blocks required for cross-border EHDS implementations. The Workshop builds practical insights from EURIDICE, XiA, HL7, and IHE Catalyst, linking specification development, deployment realities, and workforce readiness.
Designed as an expert-level working session, the 2-part Workshop supports alignment between European interoperability initiatives and sustainable education strategies, contributing to a shared understanding of how skills development can enable effective, citizen-centred health data exchange across Europe.
