Secondary Use of Health Data: Best Practices and Examples from the Field

This session takes the discussion one step further, moving from European frameworks and project coordination to the practical realities that will shape the future of secondary use under the EHDS.

As cooperation frameworks mature and national infrastructures develop, the focus shifts to implementation in practice: how can health data originating from diverse clinical settings be reused meaningfully and responsibly across borders? The session will examine challenges related to clinical data consistency, dataset comparability, research usability, operational capacity, and the preservation of professional and public trust.

The discussion will concentrate on what must be strengthened in practice -across infrastructures, communities, and institutions- for secondary use to function reliably at European scale and for EHDS to deliver tangible value.
