Dimitris Fotiadis
Professor of Biomedical Engineering, University of Ioannina / BRI – FORTH, Greece
Dimitris Fotiadis received the Diploma degree in chemical engineering from the NTUA, Athens, Greece, and the PhD degree in chemical engineering and materials science from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He is a Professor of Biomedical, Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Ioannina where he is also the Director of MEDlab, an Affiliated Member of FORTH, BRI, Director MSc in Digital Health and serves the board of Michailideion Cardiac Center. He was a Visiting Researcher at the RWTH, Aachen, Germany, and the MIT, Boston. He has contributed to 250+ funded R&D projects. He served as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE JBHI (2017-2024) and is Fellow of IEEE EMBS, EAMBES, IAMBE, and AIAA. He is also EiC of IEEE OJEMB and serves on major editorial boards. His research focuses on multiscale modeling, intelligent medical devices, big data analytics, machine learning, and bioinformatics. He has received major scientific awards and co-founded innovative health technology companies.
