Marcello Melgara is a Senior Expert with a Degree in Electronic Engineer (1980). He counts 44 years’ experience in ICT based EU projects (25 years in healthcare sector, on eHealth semantic interoperability). Previous experience in Telecom Italia (1979-2001), ATOS Origin (2001-2008). Since August 2008 to February 2024, Senior consultant at Lombardy Region – DG Welfare / ARIA. Chair of MyHealth@EU eHMSEG – Semantic Task Force – Semantic Work Group and appointed as Italian member in the other eHMSEG Task Forces, eHealth Network Sub-Group on Semantic and Technical Interoperability. In UNICOM he managed the implementation of ISO IDMP for medications in MyHealth@EU. Joint Action Xt-EHR: co-leader of activities on Patient Summary and ePrescription specifications. Since May 2024, cooperating with Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, on projects related to the European Health Data Spaces on primary and secondary use of data. Acting as Italian Ministry of Health expert on semantic interoperability in eHealth.
