Sofia Segkouli
Senior Researcher in the field of Healthcare for Older Adults, Information Technologies Institute, Centre for Research and Technology Hellas, member of the Visual Analytics Laboratory of CERTH/ITI
Dr. Sofia Segkouli is a Linguist; she received a PhD from the Department of Special Education (SED), School of Humanities of the University of Thessaly (2017), and an M.Sc. “Law and Informatics”, Department of Applied Informatics – University of Macedonia and Faculty of Law – Democritus University of Thrace (2024). She is a member of the Visual Analytics Laboratory of CERTH/ITI and a Senior Researcher in the field of Healthcare for Older Adults, Information Technologies Institute, Centre for Research and Technology Hellas. Her main research interests include the interaction of individuals with early dementia, subjective Cognitive Decline (SCD) and Mild Cognitive Impaired (MCI) with computerized environments and the impact of advanced technologies such as digital tools/games, virtual assistants etc. on critical cognitive abilities and daily activities of patients. Dr Segkouli has also an active role in data management, ethics and emerging technologies (e.g. GenAI) in the context of large-scale European projects, being assigned the role of ethics expert in the development of a European framework for ICT professionals in all sectors (e-competence framework) in terms of CEN-CENELEC initiatives.
