Gianna Tsakou is the Head of Digital Health Sector and a Senior Project Manager / Senior Analyst in the R&D Department of Maggioli S.P.A. – Greek branch. Among others, she has coordinated INCISIVE, a 10M€ EC funded R&D project leading to the development of a multimodal AI-based Toolbox and the real-life deployment of a federated cancer image repository of >5.5 million cancer images and related longitudinal clinical data from >11.000 patients (4 types of cancer), available to-date under her lead for cancer research. She is one of the co-initiators of Cancer Image Europe, a 33,5M€ EC co-funded flagship project aimed at the deployment of a pan-European, federated infrastructure of over 60M cancer images supporting AI innovation in cancer research, where she is co-leading the work on health data interoperability/federation. For over 27 years she has been working as a researcher and/or project coordinator for both the public and private sector in over 30 R&D projects through which she has acquired expertise in a wide range of domains, including health data spaces, secondary health data use, health data federation, trustworthy AI, AI in cancer imaging, and several more. She is the co-editor of a book on Trustworthy AI, and has co-authored >30 peer-reviewed publications. Since 2003, she is frequently invited as an expert evaluator and reviewer for many different EC Programmes.
