Athanasios Mavropoulos
ONCODIR Project Manager; ITI/CERTH Postdoctoral Researcher
Dr. Athanasios Mavropoulos received his PhD in Computational Linguistics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Hellas, and is currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Centre for Research and Technology, Hellas (CERTH) since 2016. His research interests include Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning, focusing on areas such as Named Entity Recognition, Relation Extraction, term conceptualisation, PDF text classification, and generative AI, among others. He has successfully participated in several national and European projects, and his scientific work has been featured in international conferences and journals. Currently, Dr. Mavropoulos is working on Knowledge Representation tasks in pervasive environments, agent-focused Knowledge Extraction, and AI chatbot development. Additionally, he manages the ONCODIR project, which delivers solutions based on evidence-based participatory decision making by exploiting implementation research for cancer prevention.
