Eirini C. Schiza

Eirini C. Schiza, PhD, is a Visiting Associate Professor at the Medical School of the University of Cyprus and a Senior Researcher with the Biomedical Engineering Research Centre (BERC) and the HealthXR group at CYENS Centre of Excellence. Her work sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence and digital health, focusing on clinically meaningful AI solutions such as explainable clinical decision support, natural language processing and conversational agents, predictive analytics, and interoperable electronic health record services. She also contributes to telemedicine and cross-border eHealth initiatives aligned with MyHealth@EU and the European Health Data Space, supporting citizen access and secondary use of health data. Dr Schiza earned her PhD in Computer Science and eHealth from the University of Groningen, where she investigated national eHealth ecosystems and the integration of eHealth technologies into medical education. She leads and co-leads work packages in major EU projects (e.g., Xt‑EHR, TEHDAS2, EUVAC) and designs XR-based educational interventions that enhance clinical skills training and patient engagement. She is a Senior Member of IEEE.
