Physician – Surgeon, Professor of Health Policy & Emergency Medicine; President, National Emergency Aid Center (EKAB), Greece 

Dr. Georgios K. Charalambous is a Physician–Surgeon and Professor of Health Policy and Emergency Medicine with extensive clinical, academic, and administrative experience in emergency healthcare systems.

He holds a PhD in Medicine from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Master’s degrees in Surgical Anatomy and Health Services Administration. He has received specialized training in Mass Casualty Crisis Management through the U.S. Department of State and completed advanced clinical training in Emergency Medicine at Inselspital – Bern University Hospital, Switzerland.

He has served as an executive member of the 1st Regional Health Authority of Attica, overseeing the clinical management of 17 major public hospitals. He currently directs the Emergency Department at Hippokration General Hospital of Athens.

Dr. Charalambous authored the national framework study on the Organization and Operation of Emergency Departments, adopted by the Ministry of Health and forming the basis for the modernization of Emergency Departments nationwide. He also contributed to the strategic reorganization of Emergency Healthcare Services in Greece.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served in the Strategic Planning Office of the 1st Regional Health Authority of Attica, coordinating hospital integration into the National Health System.

He has an extensive publication record, has participated as an invited speaker in major national and international conferences, and is the author and scientific editor of academic works in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Nursing.

He has received multiple scientific distinctions, including an Honorable Mention awarded by UNESCO.
