Kyriakos Tolias

Director, National Documentation Centre (EKT), Greece

Dr Kyriakos Tolias is the Director of the National Documentation Centre (EKT) and a leading expert in Artificial Intelligence. He holds a PhD in AI with a specialization in Natural Language Processing and Generative AI. He has also served as a Visiting Professor at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). In addition, he holds an MSc in Data Communication from Kingston University London. K. Tolias is the Statistical Head of EKT in the context of its role as National Authority of the Hellenic Statistical System. Additionally, he serves as Greece’s Representative in the OECD’s Digital Policy Committee and Committee for S&T Policy. With over two decades of experience spanning the public and private sectors, he has contributed significantly to digital transformation initiatives. From 1999 to 2005, he served as an Information Systems Support and Development Manager at the Athens Exchange Group. Since 2005, he has been an executive at the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, overseeing R&D in information systems and strategic digital transformation. As part of his academic involvement and collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics at CUT, he has supervised numerous research projects, where he organized and guided international interdisciplinary teams with a variety of academic and professional skills.
