Dr.-Ing. Marios Antonakakis is Assistant Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Department of Electronics, School of Engineering, Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU). He holds a Diploma in Electronic and Computer Engineering and an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from the Technical University of Crete, and a PhD (Dr.-Ing.) from the Technical University of Ilmenau, Germany. He is also a research collaborator at the Technical University of Crete and the Institute for Biomagnetism and Signal Analysis (IBB), Germany. His work focuses on artificial intelligence, signal and image processing, graph-based modelling, and clinical decision support systems, with emphasis on the strategic integration of digital technologies into healthcare systems. His research supports the development of data-driven health infrastructures, digital biomarkers, and AI-enabled diagnostics, contributing to safer, more efficient, and evidence-based healthcare delivery. He has authored over 60 scientific publications and participated in numerous European and national research initiatives in digital health innovation. Within ELEVIT, where he serves as Alternate Member and Secretary of the Clinical Engineering Department, he contributes to strengthening clinical engineering governance, promoting responsible AI adoption, and supporting the digital transformation strategy of healthcare institutions.
